Function point recently interviewed User Experience Designer and SFU Ph.D. candidate, Sara Salevati, regarding her approach to design and the projects she is working on with fp.

Why did you choose to work with Function Point for this part of your Ph.D thesis?
I’m always looking for opportunities to expand my knowledge and experience in various fields. Through my collaboration with fp., I am able to apply parts of my academic research within a new field.
Can you describe the project you are working on with fp?
This project focuses on applying UX and participatory design methodologies to define opportunities surrounding fp.’s product workflow and user experience. We want to integrate a design process that involves fp.’s client within every stage of the product development cycle.
What do you hope to accomplish with this project?
Through the integration of new design process, we hope to leverage understanding and introduce new ways of problem-solving by encouraging the creative power and expertise from all involved in the design and development process.
What was it about this specific project that interested you?
I think the most significant aspect that drew me to this project was the internal culture and the team’s passion for their product and client relationships. Through an open communication within various teams, they establish a clear shared plan that they modify together within their development process to provide the best service to their customers.
After you complete the project for fp. where do you see yourself in the next evolution of your career?
To continue exploring and focusing on my thesis research and taking advantage of opportunities and collaborations that come my way!
